Is Your Dental Check Up Overdue?

Is Your Dental Check Up Overdue?

With the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic and tough guidelines against unnecessary journeys during periods of lockdown, you may be forgiven for getting a little behind on your regular health checks, such as your dental check up.  As the UK is now, however, starting to emerge from national lockdown, following the series of steps laid out by the government in five-week blocks, it is time to start safely getting back to your regular healthcare routines.  If your dental check up is overdue, here are a few reasons why you might want to get in touch to make your next appointment:

Dental Check-ups at Riverside are Safe and Compliant with Covid-19 Guidelines

We are proud to continually offer a safe and secure dental environment that prioritises the safety of patients and staff.  We follow a series of stringent procedures to make sure that our practice complies to Covid-19 guidelines to minimise the spread of the virus, this includes:

  • Patient screening - prior to any appointments in-practice, we’ll be in touch to make sure our patients are not displaying any symptoms and have not been in contact with anyone who might have the virus.
  • Social distancing - we are operating social distancing within our practice, clearly guiding patients on where to stand when arriving or where to sit whilst waiting for an appointment. We’re also ensuring that there are a limited number of people within the building at any one time.
  • PPE and sanitising - our team will be equipped with the appropriate PPE and we will provide hand sanitiser for you to use frequently during your visit, particularly upon entering the building.
  • Enforcing mask wearing - we will of course, ensure that everyone, apart from those who are exempt, wears a mask during their time at our practice, so please remember to bring yours!

Missing a Dental Check Up Could Be Damaging to Your Health

It is not only tooth decay and gum disease that regular dental checks can help prevent and treat, but also a host of other health issues. During your dental check up, your dentist will also check your mouth for signs of mouth cancer, as early detection is key to treating the disease. They can also check for signs of teeth grinding, as this might be causing you headaches, as well as mouth ulcers, bad breath and dry mouth, which can all be indicative of other health conditions.

Regular Check Ups Help to Improve Overall Oral Health

By visiting your dentist regularly, every six months, or as advised, you can improve your overall oral health and help us deliver a preventive approach to dentistry. We love nothing more than helping you with any oral health concerns, but the ultimate outcome is improving your oral health and ensuring you have the right regime to prevent major problems from occurring.

Regular dental check ups can help to prevent and treat issues such as plaque build up, dental cavities and gum disease, especially when combined with a hygiene appointment to professionally clean and polish your teeth.
