The Life-Changing Benefits of Full Arch Dental Implants

The Life-Changing Benefits of Full Arch Dental Implants

Like most good things in life, it’s easy to take our teeth for granted until they’re gone. If you’re facing extensive tooth loss it may feel like your healthy teeth are gone forever, but we promise that this is not the case. There are lots of ways to replace several missing teeth at once and as dental implant specialists we offer many of them - including full arch dental implants.

With this treatment, you won’t have to sit through multiple appointments and deal with discomfort for months on end. Our full arch implants will restore the complete set of your upper or lower teeth with long-lasting implants that look, feel and function just like natural teeth, so let’s find out how this specialist treatment will restore your smile and change your life.

1.  Replace A Full Set

If you’re researching the different ways to restore your missing teeth, then it may look like your only option is to have each replacement tooth surgically implanted in your jaw and to deal with the bone loss that this often causes. However, full arch dental implants have revolutionised this process and are able to restore an entire set of teeth using just four implants to anchor the new set inside the jaw.

These implants are expertly placed to provide excellent stability and longevity, and this makes them a great choice for those facing severe tooth loss.

2.  Completed In One Day

Since this treatment replaces an entire set of teeth, you are probably thinking that it is not a quick solution. It will surprise you then to learn that full arch implants are sometimes also known as same day teeth, and that the implants can easily be fitted into your jaw in just one day.

As is the case with all implants, the posts and abutments need to be surgically implanted into the jaw and left to fuse with the bone before the crown is fitted. However, since only 4 implants are needed to support the entire set of replacement teeth, this surgical procedure can be done in just one day.

The whole process usually takes around 2 hours per jaw, and you’ll receive temporary crowns that help you to speak and eat whilst the healing process takes place. The final custom-made crown will then be placed during a follow-up appointment, eliminating the multiple treatments and extended recovery time that would be needed to replace a full row of teeth with separate implants.

3.  Long-Lasting Restoration

Implants are generally thought to last 15 - 20 years before needing to be replaced, but this only applies to the crown that is fixed to the implant. Whilst these custom-made caps may need to be replaced at some point in the future, the surgically implanted posts that hold the crowns in place are permanent and will last for a lifetime with the proper maintenance.

After the surgery to place the implants, the entire structure will fuse with the bone and tissues at the site of the lost tooth and will begin to function as an artificial tooth root. Unlike natural teeth which (as you unfortunately know) can become loose or decayed, these tiny titanium implants are stronger than the original teeth and will improve the strength of your jawbone. This will prevent further bone loss and will also save you from having to have bone grafting done before or during the procedure, provided that you have enough existing bone for the implants to fuse with.

4.  Eat and Speak as Normal

All implant procedures will require a period of healing, and this is certainly the case for full arch dental implants. For up to 4 months after surgery you will need to eat soft, non-chewy foods and you will also need to keep your mouth as clean as possible. This may take a little longer if you require bone grafting first and our implant team will be able to give you an exact timeline for your recovery period, but all this will well be worth it when you are once again able to eat whatever you like!

Unlike removable options like dentures, our full arch implants are fixed in place and offer improved stability that lets you eat and speak as normal. This stable base allows you to enjoy hard, crunchy, and chewy foods without any shifting and also helps improve speech function which may have been affected by extensive tooth loss.

5.  Restore Your Smile

The last, but certainly not least, reason most patients choose our full arch dental implants is to restore the smile that they have lost. It is perfectly natural to feel self-conscious about tooth loss and it can be truly devastating to lose a full arch of teeth, but it should never stop you from living your life and smiling with the people you love.

Whether you are already wearing removable dentures or are on the lookout for a permanent solution to your missing teeth, our implants offer a lifetime of natural-looking smiles that won’t fade. These immovable implants are designed to look and function just like natural teeth and are permanently anchored in place to fully restore your confidence and keep you smiling, so don’t let missing teeth lower your self-confidence down any longer.
